Leesburg Tutor Biographies
Bridget is an Ashburn resident with a BA in English from George Mason University, summa cum laude and with honors in the major. She is currently enrolled as a graduate student at Catholic University of America, working toward an MA in English. Bridget is available in-person in the Ashburn and Leesburg areas to tutor in English, elementary math - algebra, and homework help/study skills. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and embroidery.
Charles has been a teacher at Virginia Academy for 6 years and has another 2 years of experience tutoring. He has a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Eastern Nazarene College and has completed Master’s coursework in Physics from the University of Delaware. As a high school teacher, he has taught numerous math and science courses such as Calculus, Statistics, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Physics, Astronomy, and Earth Science. He is available to tutor in all of these areas including Microsoft Excel.
Halle attends Christopher Newport University where she majors in biology with a minor in business. With a true love for math and science, she has spent years peer tutoring middle and high school students. Her expertise ranges from Algebra I and Geometry through AP Statistics I and Calculus. She is also happy to tutor most middle and high school science and English. Keely is a rising senior at Purdue University, majoring in Aerospace Engineering, and has lived in Ashburn her entire life, graduating from Briar Woods High School in 2019. She has tutored since she was in 7th grade in all subjects, but primarily in math and science. At Purdue, she was the previous podcast producer for the Political Discourse Club’s podcast, Talk Better, and continues to run and swim, as she was on the varsity teams for these sports in high school. Chris, an Ashburn resident, earned a B.A. from Christendom College in 2009, and an M.A.T. in Secondary Education from Liberty University in 2011. He has experience teaching and tutoring students at the middle school and high school levels for the past ten years. Currently, he is a high school teacher for Loudoun County Public Schools, and tutors middle & high school students. He is available to tutor middle school Science, Math, English and History, as well as high school Algebra I & II, Geometry, English, and Social Studies. He is also available to tutor in test prep for the PSAT and the SAT. He lives in Ashburn Village.
Fenton earned a BA in Mathematics from Agnes Scott College and has been living in Ashburn for over 20 years, enjoying her family, grandchildren, and pets. She home schooled her four sons from kindergarten through high school. All four sons went on to attend and graduate from college. In 2010 she taught Algebra I and 5th grade math at Ambleside School in Herndon. From 2011-2016 she taught 5th grade at Ambleside School. In the summer of 2016 she retired from full time teaching to be a grandmother. Not only does she love teaching, but she also enjoys Bible study, knitting, water colors, colored pencils, and walking her dog. She lives in Ashburn Farms.
John is a retired professor with over 25 years of teaching and academic advising experience at several area colleges including Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, and George Mason University. He received his BS in biology with a minor in chemistry from Marquette University and his MS and PhD in resource development from Michigan State University. He has tutored and advised high school students in the Ashburn for many years and has taught high school courses for homeschoolers preparing for college. He tutors most high school subjects including all the social sciences, history, government, English, math through algebra 2, biology and chemistry. He also works with individual students preparing for the SAT and ACT exams and offers college counseling to students and their parents on a case-by-case basis. He started playing guitar in elementary school and formed a garage band in 7th grade. He still manages to play with a garage band today that occasionally gets out of the garage. He lives in Ashburn Farms.
Mary R. earned her Bachelor’s from George Mason University and her Master’s in Special Education from Shenandoah University. She is currently an elementary school special education cross categorical teacher in Loudoun County. Before Mary became a resource teacher, she taught a self-contained class for students with autism, and previously worked in positions as an assistant in autism classrooms, as well as a behavior assistant. She is trained in Orton-Gillingham, a phonics-based approach to reading, and has participated in several dyslexia trainings and workshops. She is currently pursuing a certification in Specialized Reading. She lives in Leesburg.
Shane is holds a B.A. degree in Criminology and a B.S. degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech. He is currently planning to attend law school. Before college, he attended Stone Bridge High School where he ran varsity track and played varsity lacrosse. He was in the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and was eventually awarded the Student-Athlete Award. Aimee earned a B.S. Degree from Syracuse University in Exercise Science. She managed health clubs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in the late 90's. For the last several years, she has served as a substitute teacher for Loudoun Co. Public Schools and founded Broad Run Crew Inc., promoting amateur & competitive rowing at Broad Run High School. She has several years experience working for Ashburn Tutors tutoring children in all subjects and adults with autism. She can assist with homework help, writing, elementary - middle school subjects. She lives in Ashburn Village.
Isabella received her Law Degree from the Universidad de la Sabana in Bogota and a Master of Law in Comparative Law form the University of Miami. She is from Bogota, Colombia and has lived in the United States for twenty-one years. She previously worked at Law firms in San Juan, Puerto Rico and in Washington, DC. Isabella stopped working to care for her growing family but stayed involved in her community. For the last eight years she has homeschooled her four children, and is currently homeschooling her two youngest. She has taught elementary and middle school children as a volunteer for the Diocese of Bogotá, Miami and Arlington for over thirty years, and has been teaching for her homeschool co-op for three years. She is fluent in Spanish and English. She is available to tutor elementary and middle school age students who require homework assistance. Isabella lives in Arcola, VA.
Mary M. earned a B.A. in Journalism from Penn State and works as a freelance writer and editor for newspapers, magazines, websites and corporate communication materials. She serves on the board of a local nonprofit where she enjoys helping high school students find meaningful community service projects throughout Loudoun County. She is available virtually to assist with writing, college essays, and English. The mother of two college students, Mary lives in Paeonian Springs.
Mary Beth earned a B.S. in Paralegal Studies and an M.S. in Reading Education from Marywood University. She is currently the director and owner of Ashburn Tutors, LLC. She served as an elementary and middle school Reading Specialist for Fairfax County Public Schools and the Pocono Mountain School District in Pennsylvania. In addition, Mary Beth was a second grade teacher for the Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Arlington and served as a home-bound instructor for Loudoun County Public Schools. She has been a private tutor since 1995 and currently tutors full-time. She is available in-person to teach children and adults with reading & learning difficulties, elementary math - algebra, and homework help/study skills. In addition, she conducts homeschool evaluations and reading level assessments. She lives in Ashburn Village.

He was a Title 1 Remedial Reading Specialist for public schools in Pennsylvania and has served as a learning disabilities teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools and the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Arlington.
